Canvassing, or “knocking doors” is a research-based strategy for engaging potential voters. Candidates and campaign volunteers meet voters where they live, literally, showing they care about voters’ concerns, finding out what they want and need from a Representative, and personally asking for their votes.
Tim himself has been knocking thousands of doors since early June, and a dedicated group of volunteers has been helping.
In the last several weeks of this election cycle, Tim’s Team would love to have more people volunteer to canvass.
When you volunteer:
· You will be scheduled for a time and date that works for you.
· You will download, with help as needed, an app on your phone into which you add responses from the people you meet (a fully charged cell phone is needed).
· You will be get a “turf” or set of blocks and addresses to canvass with one other volunteer-a more experienced volunteer at first.
· Your “turf” will consist of, given the best efforts at data collection, Democrats, Progressives, and those that Lean Left even if they may vote Republican sometimes.
· You will get training on how to approach voters, campaign literature to leave with them, and background information on the policy stances of Tim Meyer and his opponent in case voters have questions.
Please give a few hours of your time meeting friendly and very curious voters!
